MyTraining - Does it.....work?

Main Post:

I'm trying to figure out where to document my troops skill level upgrade training and I'm being told MyTraining but when I log into it there doesn't seem to be anything in there to document training. I can't even find a record for my troop. I know TBA has been gone for like a year now but.... is this system really not working at all? Have we just not been recording training for the last year?

Top Comment: I'd ask your UTM to see if they have even loaded your folk into it yet.

The Failure That Is MyTraining

Main Post:

Does anyone want to create a rolling list of broken features and/or things that don't function as expected?

How are these contracts/projects figured out and awarded where there is a constant state of failure with almost every information system we use outside of Envision? Between the UTMs in my unit we probably have around 200 hours or more (combined) just trying to make MyTraining function since its release. How many thousands of hours are lost across the Airforce because of MyTraining? How do you quantify the dollar amount that is disappearing because of lost productivity?

The failure and absolute time suck that is MyTraining is... baffling. My unit is small, but even trying to migrate to a new CFETP is borderline impossible. The system, even today on a Saturday when there should be very little traffic, is so slow that basic functions like building task groups, adding tasks to people, changing their workcenter, etc are timing out and requiring me to try to process things 3 or 4 times.

First couple of broken things that need to be fixed:

  • When archiving tasks, they still show up in your "active" tasks... effectively making archiving them useless. See the next point.
  • Archiving tasks is completely broken. This is a basic required function of a system like this to track training. You cant unarchive and you cant remove the tasks from a user once they are archived because something in the record breaks. The GUI doesnt provide the necessary functionality to clear out task groupings from anyone if you want to archive them instead of straight removing them... by removing them, you lose training records. See the next point.
  • You cant remove old training records in a timely manner. You have to "decertify" the tasks one by one (no batch option) which is 250+ tasks per person before you can remove them.
  • The inability to "select all" or "shift click" a group of tasks when signing them off. The "transcribe" option isnt working at this moment (I used it once before, dont know whats going on) to help me migrate members to the new CFETP. I will have to scroll down and click my mouse button around 20,000 times or more (using basic math to calculate without diving in too deep) and will still require each of my members to go into their profile and click a minimum of about 250 times.

EDIT:

  • Lack of JQS's and inability to make your own WCJQS.

Top Comment: A number of complaints here: a number of these "myX" sites didn't need to exist half (or more) of them don't even work naming everything "myX" was extremely stupid and frustrating, trying to explain to new airmen the difference between "mytraining" and "mylearning" and what is on which
